MUZICAD Erasmus+ Project Second Mobility Meeting – Hamburg, Germany

Hamburg, Germany recently played host to the second international mobility meeting of our MUZICAD Erasmus+ Project, bringing together partners from Türkiye, Ireland, Germany, and Croatia for three enriching and collaborative days. This vibrant gathering focused on a key component of our project: the development of innovative musical game ideas for our upcoming Teacher Training Handbook, designed to support educators working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Day 1: Introductions, Inspiration, and First Ideas

The meeting began with a warm welcome and personal presentations from each participant, allowing partners to reconnect and share insights into their ongoing work. A guided tour of the hosting facility offered an inspiring look at local educational and creative spaces.

We then delved into project updates, followed by an engaging Musical Storytelling Workshop, where participants explored the powerful connection between music and personal narratives. A presentation of the MUZICAD website and a review of the draft design for our Teacher Training Handbook set the tone for the core task of the meeting.

The day concluded with the first round of game idea presentations, as our Croatian partners introduced their creative contributions to the handbook.

Day 2: Deep Dive into Musical Concepts and Collaborative Sharing

Day two opened with a hands-on “Introduction to Rhythm & Melody” workshop, emphasising the foundational musical elements that make learning both accessible and enjoyable for learners with ASD.

The heart of the day featured a dynamic exchange of ideas, as each of the remaining partners presented their proposed musical game ideas:

  • Ireland shared interactive, movement-based musical activities designed to build communication and sensory engagement.
  • Türkiye introduced games that highlight structure, routine, and cultural musical elements.
  • Germany showcased a blend of playful, sensory-driven concepts focused on emotional expression and motor coordination.

These sessions sparked lively discussions, constructive feedback, and a strong sense of shared vision.

Day 3: Shaping the Future of the Handbook and Project Planning

On the final day, we worked collaboratively to select and refine the musical games that will be included in the Teacher Training Handbook. Partners then worked together to categorise and structure the content, ensuring it will be user-friendly and impactful for educators across different contexts.

A project timeline review and task planning session concluded the meeting, laying the groundwork for our next mobility meeting, scheduled to take place in Ireland this July.

This three-day mobility meeting was not only productive and educational, but also a true celebration of creativity, inclusivity, and international cooperation. The energy, passion, and dedication of all involved partners continue to drive this project forward.

We are confident that MUZICAD will make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with ASD, empowering educators with tools that harness the power of music to connect, teach, and inspire.

Stay tuned for updates from our next meeting in Ireland – and thank you to all our partners for their unwavering commitment to this important work!
